Our lovely and amazing shoppers keep showering us with praises and applauds for the oh-so-premium quality goose down products we offer at Diamond Bedding. We receive tons of calls, emails and messages from happy customers who keep asking us how we manage to keep our prices so low, despite the exceptional quality of our products. Well, that’s a business secret – a secret that we are going to share with you today. Yayyy!
When you purchase goose down pillows or duvets from high street retailers, you don’t just pay for the products that you need. Instead, you also pay for a whole bunch of other things that you never needed and didn’t ask for either. It is these unnecessary, wasteful things that add up the cost of your purchases substantially.
Small retailers have less bargaining power in terms of purchases from suppliers. So, they end up purchasing for higher prices and therefore sell them to you at higher prices. Bigger retail chains have an entirely different set of problems. Their large operations allow them to bargain better prices from their suppliers, but they have a lot more employees, overheads and other operational costs that blow up the costs for them anyway. Guess who ends up paying for all those additional costs? You, the customer.
If you are wondering just what these costs are, let us give you a quick overview.
If you are a retailer, then you must be located at a place that is frequented by shoppers. Otherwise, your sales will take a hit. For large retailers, the stakes are particularly high. So, they pay hefty rentals to be located at one of the premium locations – shopping centres, high streets and so on. The rentals at these premium locations often run into millions of pounds per year. That’s right. Millions!
An online operation like ours can be located in different parts around the country where the real estate costs are paltry and it would not make any difference to our shoppers. We just have to get them quality products in time and that’s exactly what we do. We don’t have dozens of stores zigzagging across the country. We ship everything from our warehouses located in places that don’t cost us a fortune in rent. Savings for us means savings for you.
Have you visited any retail store lately? How many employees do you notice there? There are cashiers, store managers, the so-called retail assistants who do not assist as much as stand around you while you shop, security teams who are monitoring CCTV from their offices as well as visible loss prevention staff. Also, don’t forget all those people in large retail chains who work behind the scenes that you’ll never see. These include operations managers, Chief Executives and so on. Large retailers employ an army of these multi-level managers, and they all come with hefty pay packages. The salaries of all these people come from the same source – your purchases.
When you are purchasing from a store like us, there are no cashiers to take your payment, there are no shopping assistants that stand around all day, no store cleaning staff are required to maintain the store either. Imagine how much that saves us every month, every year? No wonder our premium quality products are cheaper!
Do you want to know what’s even more awesome? We can offer you 24/7 service through our emails and live chat without blowing up our costs. If a retailer tries to do that, then their sheer manpower costs will multiply many times over. They’ll have to hire another set of people for night operations. Not to mention the overtime costs for all this manpower. When you purchase with Diamond Bedding, you get 24/7 services without us having to break a sweat about hiring more people. That means even more cost savings for us, which we pass on to you.
When you visit our Diamond Bedding website, everything you see there is digital. The website, the information, and even the shopping cart is digital. Likewise, the products are shipped from locations that are close, so that shipping is fast and inexpensive which is why we can offer free next day delivery with an accurate 1 hour time slot. Everything is different in the case of a retail store.
The product must be showcased in an appealing way in the store. That includes the right kind of lighting, the right kind of decorations to make things attractive for you, and even the light music humming in the background. Not to mention all the expenses related to heating and air conditioning. So much money is spent just to keep things looking attractive and to make it convenient for you to shop. All those costs accrue over time to increase the prices of the goose down products at the retailers.
What’s more, they feel that since it’s a premium product, shoppers will pay extra money anyway.
But premium does not always need to mean expensive, does it!? We have proved that by now.
How many times have you decided to not purchase something like a goose down duvet or something like that at a retailer just because they were marginally expensive? That’s right. If you like a product at a physical store, you won’t bother to go to the next store just to save a pound or two. They count on that to keep their prices high. For us on the other hand, the competition online is intense and very real as customers can compare between numerous websites within a matter of minutes. Also, since our operations spread across the world (thanks to our free shipping policy), we compete with online retailers in every major country. So, when you purchase products from us, our prices are not only competitive in comparison to UK retailers, but also the international retailers.
That’s the big secret behind Diamond Bedding products staying premium as well as affordable.
]]>Seriously, a goose down duvet is one of the most comforting and pleasant things you can have to accompany you all through the summer. Wonder what a duvet that saved you from the frigid winters can do you for during the summers? Well, as it turns out, a lot actually. Here are the many ways in which a good goose down duvet can make even the summer nights amazing for you.
Goose down duvets don’t just look like clouds, they feel like them too. They are refreshingly light. They do not come with a tonne of weight. So, they don’t feel heavy on your chest which means that you won’t suffocate under the sheer size of these duvets. Despite all the filling they carry, they feel as if you are wearing a cloud over yourself.
If you have ever used a goose down duvet, you are spoilt for comfort. You can never settle for anything less; or in this case, a heavier duvet. That’s another reason why a goose down duvet is your best friend for all seasons.
This is the most important aspect of goose down duvets. They are phenomenally breathable. Come to think of it. The purpose of down is to not just protect the birds from intense cold, but also to regulate their body temperature. Geese are warm blooded and their temperature must be regulated within a certain limit. This is only possible when enough wind reaches their skin to take away the heat. The down protects the birds from the cold during the winters and keeps the bird well aerated, so that its body temperature is also optimally regulated during the summers.
Goose down, especially the Hungarian goose down, has the highest fill power among all filling materials. As a result, there’s plenty of teeny tiny air pockets locked in within the material. These air pockets keep the duvet well aerated and breathable throughout the night. So, even when you swaddle yourself in a goose down duvet like a burrito, the duvet keeps you superbly ventilated so that you can enjoy a deep sleep of relaxation.
The down is a natural wick. It takes the moisture away from your body, where it evaporates into the surroundings. Thus, you are left cool, dry, and comfy throughout the night. But remember, goose down’s wicking ability is only as good as its fabric allows it to be. As you can imagine, our high thread count cotton fabrics used on the goose down duvets does an excellent job at this.
When it comes to the months of summer, cotton and silk are two materials that are just perfect, despite their vast differences. Cotton is one of the most breathable materials out there and is soothingly comfortable on the skin. On top of it, it has fantastic moisture absorption ability. Whatever moisture it absorbs, the goose down wicks away from it, keeping you cool and dry inside. As for silk, it is easily the most luxurious materials on the skin and it has superior wicking ability that makes it a great choice for down duvets.
With the right duvet cover and the goose down to take away all the moisture from you for the entire night, you get to experience the pure luxury of the most satisfying sleep. Every single night.
Most of us are allergic to one thing or the other. If it isn’t the dust, then it is the pollen; if it isn’t the pollen, then it’s probably some bacteria. Well, the problem with the months of summer is that all of these allergens thrive in full bloom. There are many plants which pollinate during the months of summer and send hundreds of thousands of Brits into a sneezing spree. The dust and the bacteria always manage to reach every corner, every surface, and every item you touch, including your pillow covers, duvets, and bed, among other things. Good thing you have a duvet that is anti-allergenic.
Goose down duvets are naturally anti-allergenic. You see, down is designed to protect the birds from anything that causes them harm. That includes bacteria, fungi, microbes, and other things that may cause them rashes or other types of allergies. Therefore, goose down duvets are anti-allergenic by design. They protect you from most of the allergy-inducing agents and help you sleep peacefully throughout the night.
Folks everywhere just want a place to collapse after hours of restless work and stress. That’s why everyone everywhere is always trying to make their bedrooms the most comfortable places in their homes. But, you don’t want to be comfortable during the week nights only to end up slogging away the precious weekends on laundry now, do you? That’s why you need extreme convenience to go with extreme comfort. Something that only goose down duvets can offer.
Goose down duvets are totally low maintenance products. And by low maintenance, we mean wayyy low maintenance. They actually need not be washed for multiple years. They retain very little dirt on or inside of them. If you are someone highly prone to allergy, then you might have to get them cleaned every year or so, to get rid of the body oils and allergens that accumulate on the duvet covers. And, even when you must clean, remember that they are machine washable. How amazing is that!
So, your weekends are saved from any washing chore. Wake up straight for the brunch, plan a day with your family, or go for a hike. After all, it is summer and a day out is a day of fun.
Your weekend is back in your control, thanks to your low maintenance duvet.
]]>Well, that’s because we are awesome!
Also, we have a rigorous quality control process that ensures that every goose down product that we source from our carefully chosen manufacturers meet our supreme quality standards. No, we do not follow the industry standards. Our bar for high quality is higher than standard! You don’t need to be told that; if you have used any of our products then you already know it.
But, do you want to know how we manage to keep the quality of our products so high? Here is a sneak peek into our quality checking process.
Goose down creates air pockets between itself. These air pockets form an insulating layer between you and the cold. The thicker is the layer of this air, the better are its insulating properties. How do you get a thicker layer of air pockets? It’s quite simple – by using goose down with higher fill power.
Now, what really is fill power? Fill power is the volume occupied by goose down of one ounce in weight.
We ascertain the fill power of the goose down we source by subjecting it to a special quality test. We fill up a Lorch-cylinder with the goose down and subject it to a particular level of pressure. The volume of the goose down at that pressure point signifies the fill power. Goose down typically has a fill power of 500 to 850. All Diamond Bedding goose down products have a fill power of around 800, which is the sweet spot between weight and maximum insulation.
The fresh goose down that is obtained from the birds is quite dirty. It needs to be thoroughly washed multiple times until it becomes odorless and completely white in color. At the same time, we don’t use harsh chemicals which could damage the down.
But, how do you determine that the down is clean? By following a simple test.
The goose down used in our products is subjected to a purity test. We immerse the cleaned goose down in clean water and rinse it again. We then pour the used water in a transparent glass cylinder, which has a black cross marked at the bottom. The industry standard is that if the cross at the bottom of the cylinder is clearly visible even at a depth of 30cms of water, then the down is deemed to be pure.
But, remember we told you about our standards being a little stricter? Here is the proof.
We, at Diamond Bedding, aren’t satisfied until the cross is clearly visible under 90cms of down-cleaned water. How is that for quality?
It is impossible to eliminate all the impurities in any product and this is true for goose down as well. There are bound to be some percentage of impurities left in the down, despite repeated cleaning and a thorough purification process. However, Diamond Bedding focuses on reducing the level of impurities in the down to such a small percentage that it does not pose any kind of discomfort or inconvenience to our customers. Here are 3 of the vital tests that we conduct on our goose down to ascertain its quality.
Oxygen Number is a term used in this industry to denote the quantity of organic matter present in a specific amount of material. This could be decaying organic matter from the atmosphere, skin cells from the bird itself, mildew, or any other kind of organic material. We subject a small quantity of down material to a chemical testing procedure that gives us the exact oxygen number for the goose down. If the goose down does not meet our requirements for acceptable impurity levels, then it the entire shipment is rejected immediately.
This testing procedure provides us a good idea about the amount of dirt and dust present in the goose down we are testing. The turbidity reading has to be extremely low in order to qualify our quality standards. If the goose down has an extremely low turbidity reading, then it is deemed to be hypoallergenic.
Residual fat content is an important factor that determines the quality of goose down. The amount of residual fat in the goose down should be just perfect, somewhere in between 0.7% and 2%. If the residual fat is more than 2%, then the down will have unpleasant odors that may make you feel nauseated. On the other hand, if the residual fat content is less than 0.7%, then the down will be too fragile to be used for duvets and pillows. It will break down fast with usage, and will lose its insulation and fluffiness with time.
For an untrained eye, it is almost impossible to differentiate between the goose down and the duck down. But, we are the experts. So, we know how to differentiate between the two. In fact, we will share that trick with you right now.
You need a magnifying glass for this. When you look at the down through a magnifying glass, you will notice tiny barbs on the down hair. These barbs are present on both goose down as well as duck down. However, their size and position of these barbs are different. The barbs on goose down hair are larger in size and are located in the middle of the hair. The barbs on the duck down hair are smaller in size and are located near the end of the hair.
Well done! Now you are an official expert in differentiating goose down from the duck down.
In addition to these tests, we also conduct multiple proprietary quality checks that help us ensure that the goose down products that we feature are made from supreme quality, 100% goose down.

]]>Goose down duvets are simply the pinnacle of luxury. If you’ve ever slept under one, then you’ve enjoyed the most amazing rest of your life. They keep you warm and cosy, and make you feel heavenly under them.
But, did you know that most goose down duvets do not contain a 100% down filling like ours do? That’s right. Most of the supposedly “goose down duvets” contain a certain percentage of feather filling in the small print as well.
Feel cheated, right? But, that’s the standard practice in the industry. Moreover, this is hardly a one-off incident. There are plenty of ways in which everyone from big retailers to the sellers on Amazon could be lying to you about the quality of your duvet. So, how do you separate the wheat from the chaff? That’s the easy part. Find a retailer who follows the strictest quality control measures, and is open to sharing the various aspects of their services, such as the source of the goose down used in their products, the percentage of goose down in a goose down duvet, and so on.
Thankfully, you have one right in front of you – Diamond Bedding.
Below the video are the top reasons why Diamond Bedding should be the only place where you shop for your duvets:
There are a great many varieties of goose down used as filling materials for duvets. The Hungarian goose down stands tall among them as the most premium type of goose down in the market. There are two things that make a Hungarian goose down duvet downright the best filling material in the world. For one, it is its superior fill power, which can be as high as 800 or even higher. Two, the cleaning, drying, and filling process employed on the down filling. This is where most manufacturers go wrong.
Some manufacturers cut down on their costs by not separating the bad quality down from the good quality down they obtain from the goose. This is particularly true for goose down products obtained from cheap manufacturing hubs, where cost is the primary criteria.
This is why Diamond Bedding sources all of its goose down products from reputable manufacturers, where the quality control regime is far stricter than that of other countries.
Here’s an uncomfortable truth about Siberian goose down – there’s no such thing!
Seriously, Siberian goose down does not exist. It is a marketing gimmick. What they say is Siberian goose down does not come from Siberia. It comes from the same place where most of our clothes, shoes, and other things are manufactured – China! Not Siberia.
Then there’s the matter of Canadian Goose down. The good news is – it does exist. The bad news is – maybe not in your duvet. The goose down industry in Canada is not big as those in other countries like Hungary, Poland, or China. So, there has always existed a severe shortage of Canadian goose down in the market. So, manufacturers and retailers often use a dirty trick. They blend it with other varieties of goose down before filling it in the duvets. More often than not, your Canadian goose down duvet might contain down mixed from a few different countries.
Secondly, as we all know, where there is a shortage of something, its prices soar. Pure Canadian goose down is therefore used in designer clothes, which have expensive price tags only because of the rarity, brand name, and the name of the product’s designer. Not because of the quality of the goose down itself, which a lot of people can get confused with. This is important because Canadian goose down is dull and has low fill power. It can be heavy enough to feel suffocating on the chest.
Diamond Bedding does not mislead its customers. Therefore, you will never find Canadian goose down products or Siberian goose down products at Diamond Bedding.
Do you know how the down is obtained from geese in some countries? It is obtained from live geese. They shear the geese for down. But, down is not as thick as, say, wool. So, the shearing process is an extremely painful process for the geese. Their pain is akin to being skinned. But, in the absence of any laws in some countries to regulate the down production, the manufacturers are having a field day torturing the hapless birds that cannot complain or do anything about their pain.
Diamond Bedding obtains all of its goose down products from the manufacturers who operate in a well-regulated environment, under the oversight of the countries laws, which protect the animals and birds. In countries like Hungary, Poland, and even North America, the down production is a strictly regulated business.
In such places, the down is collected without harming the animals for the purpose of obtaining the goose down. The goose undergoes a natural process called shedding, wherein the goose loses its outer, older layer of down that is replaced by a fresh, new layer. Manufacturers collect this down and subject it to specialised cleaning techniques to improve its quality. They also obtain down as a by-product from the meat industry, which otherwise would have gone wasted anyway.
Diamond Bedding makes sure that its products are obtained from only those manufacturers who have a highly reputable track record of strictly adhering to the ‘no harm to animals’ policy.
Diamond Bedding is neither a franchisee nor a high street retail chain. It also does not have a big store set up in the shopping centres nearest to you. Do you know what that means? It means no franchisee fees, no large overheads associated with brick and mortar stores, and definitely no high rent costs on commercial establishments on the high street.
In other words, the online retailer does not indulge in the big budget expenses that are typical of physical retailers. So, we save tons of money. Guess where that money goes? To you, of course. That’s right, whatever money we save by not indulging in such expensive activities, is transferred to the customers directly in the form of terrific discounts.
Every product listed on Diamond Bedding enjoys the most affordable price and is manufactured to the highest standards possible.

If You Keep Experiencing Cold Spots
How many nights have you spent waking up in the middle of the night wondering where and how the cold wafts of air are entering your duvet? You’ve probably lost the count, haven’t you?
Most of the duvets in the market are made of materials that are not designed to stay fluffy for long. Cotton, microfibre, hollowfibre and many other fill materials lose their fluffiness over time. Therefore, they are treated in the manufacturing plants with chemicals to keep them fluffy temporarily. Once the effects of the chemicals wear off, these fill materials begin to clump together. As a result, the space between two clumps becomes a conduit for cold air to penetrate through the duvet. Thus, you end up spending the winter nights in your bed twitching from one side to another, not knowing where the cold air is breaking into your cozy duvet fortress. Now you know where.
If you want duvets that have a fill material that is naturally fluffy and stays so, then you need a goose down duvet. Any good quality goose down duvet will have fill material with superior fill power. Fill power is basically a measure of how fluffy the fill material is. Because goose down is naturally fluffy, your duvet will stay fluffy and without clumps even after years of usage.
When a Full Cycle of Sleep Feels Like a Distant Memory
The Sleep Council recommends that most of the duvets should be replaced within 5 years of their purchase. There are many reasons for this. One is that the fill material in the duvets forms lumps. Secondly, many materials like silk, polyester, and others become a breeding ground for allergens. With regular use, the oil released from the human skin sticks to the duvets. These sticky areas become a breeding ground for bacteria, germs, and other microbes, which can cause anything from infections to allergies.
Regular cleaning and washing cleans away most of these microbes. But, with each wash, some of the bacteria remain. After years of usage, the oils and microbes will have penetrated so deep into the duvets that they are rendered unhealthy for any user. In fact, many of the synthetic as well as all-natural fill material duvets only have a lifetime of up to 2 years.
On the other hand, top of the range duvets like Hungarian goose down duvets, Canadian White Snow Goose Down duvets can last for as much as 15-20 years, thanks to their natural, anti-allergic properties. So, if you have been experiencing less than perfect sleep time these days, if your Circadian rhythm has been tossed out the window, then it might be time to invest in a good quality Hungarian goose down duvet.
When Filling Starts Leaking
Good quality duvets come with high thread count covers, which have great strength and last a long time. On the other hand, low quality duvets have poor stitching, low thread count covers, and generally poor workmanship. Naturally, the fill material begins to leak from the duvets after some time. Putting the fill material back into the duvet and re-stitching it won’t help, because the leaking fill material is a sign of the duvet cover losing its strength. The leaking will continue even after re-stitching. The leaks will simply happen somewhere else now.
So, pick a good duvet that features covers of higher thread count. Finding a good duvet can be quite a difficult task. Goose down duvets, in general, come with high quality covers that are durable as well as comfy on the skin. And, yes, goose down duvets can be quite expensive, especially when you are shopping for the high end products like Hungarian goose down duvets. But, if you know where to look, such as Diamond Bedding, then you can land some pretty steep discounts and still get to enjoy the most luxurious goose down duvet out there.
If You Feel Suffocated or As If Your Chest is Weighed Down
Some people like heavy duvets. Some people don’t. If you belong to the latter group, and has suffered through the suffocation that a heavy duvet brings with it, then it’s finally time to make the switch. Goose down is arguably the lightest fill material for duvets. They give you a truly feather-touch (literally) experience. You won’t even notice their weight. In fact, the only way you will notice them is through the amazing warmth they provide you and the way they drape over you.
People who do not like heavier duvets wake up in the morning with inexplicable body aches. Sometimes, it is their chest, sometimes it is their shoulders, and so on. The body pain can last throughout the day, rendering them unable to focus on either their work or their family. A good lightweight duvet, such as a goose down duvet, will never cause any such body pains. You get a full sleep, having rested pleasantly throughout the night, under the most luxurious duvet available in the market.
Final Thoughts
A good duvet is not one that is just within your budget, and offers you protection from the cold. A good duvet is one that delivers you a full night’s worth of uninterrupted sleep, no matter what season.
]]>Still need convincing? Let’s go through the benefits in some more detail.
Machine Washable and Naturally Hypoallergenic
Being able to wash a duvet, which is also naturally hypoallergenic, is great for those who suffer from respiratory allergies such as asthma or allergic rhinitis as well as those dealing with skin conditions like eczema. AllergyBestBuys describes wool duvets as “an excellent natural alternative to feather and down.” They go on to say, “The filling is anti-bacterial and naturally hostile to dust mites. These duvets are safe for asthma, eczema and chemical sensitivity.”
Thermo-regulating
Wool fibres are naturally thermo-regulating, reacting to your body to keep you at an optimum temperature. The same way the fibres keep sheep warm when it is cold and cool when it is warm or as their wool gets thicker, a wool duvet will absorb heat when you need cooling down, and then release the heat as your temperature falls. This makes it perfect for couples who share a bed as it will adjust temperature to suit both sleepers, meaning a more comfortable and less disturbed rest for you both.
How does wool affect sleep?
Sleep is just as important to your health as food, water or exercise but it’s often overlooked. The worldwide average for adults is currently 6.8 hours of sleep with no country managing the 8 hours of recommended shut eye a night, which highlights a worrying lack of sleep across the world.
Researchers at the University of Sydney have found that sleeping under wool can lead to a 25% better sleep with more time spent in the ‘deep sleep’ stage of the sleeping cycle. Taking into consideration the fact that deep sleep is the stage associated with maintaining a healthy heart and brain, boosting your immune system, preventing diseases such as diabetes and Alzheimer’s and helping to alleviate stress which can cause mental illnesses in the long term, this statistic alone is an amazing reason to invest in a wool duvet.
Our Diamond Bedding Deluxe Pure Wool Duvet is made of 100% platinum grade British wool and is available in a range of togs suitable for summer, autumn and winter. It comes encased in a 400 thread count, cotton cover with a quilted stitch pattern to ensure even distribution of the filling inside and is double stitched with silver piping for a truly luxurious finish.

]]>1. Sleep at regular times
Get into the habit of going to sleep and waking up at the same times everyday. A good sleeping routine which gets you between seven and nine hours of sleep, can in the long term lead to higher concentration levels, better memory and increased energy.
2. Power off
Reduce exposure to electronic devices like smartphones, computers and TVs before bed as the blue light causes your brain to think it is still daytime which stops the production of melatonin - the hormone which gives your body the cue to go to sleep. If you really MUST use your smartphone before bed, some devices like the iPhone allow you to select the ‘Night Shift’ mode which gives off a warmer, less blue light.
3. Take a relaxing bath or shower
A hot bath a couple of hours before you sleep can help you fall asleep faster and into a deeper sleep, less likely to be disturbed by any interruptions.
4. Free your mind
Have a bedtime routine which allows you to wind down, forget about the stresses of your day and ease in the transition between being awake and feeling drowsy. You could try writing in a journal, reading a book or listening to calming music.
5. Turn your bedroom into a sleep haven
Make your bedroom sleep friendly by making it tidy, dark and quiet. A tidy room puts your mind at ease so de-clutter, arrange furniture to look more welcoming and decorate your room to make it look even more appealing to go to bed. Make sure your curtains or blinds are thick enough or use an eye mask like the Mulberry Silk Eye Mask from our range which has all the added benefits of silk (you can read more about that here).
6. Regulate temperature
Everyone has different preferences for the optimum bedroom temperature so test out different temperatures until you find what’s best for you and it will help you have a more restful sleep. Silk bedding which naturally regulates your temperature keeping you warm when its cold and cool when its warm can also make sure you sleep through the night.
7. Invest in your mattress, duvet and bedding
A comfortable mattress, duvet and bedding can make all the difference to your sleep quality, the ‘best’ will be different for everyone so its advisable to look into the different options available to decide what will suit your needs. Diamond Bedding has a wide range of duvets with various tog ratings, fillings and sizes to suit everyone’s needs such as our Hungarian goose down duvet.
8. Get the right support from your pillow
Prevent neck aches and difficulty getting comfortable by investing in a pillow which provides you with the support you need depending on what kind of sleeper you are - front, back or side. We have a range of pillows varying in firmness and filling at different price points so there’s bound to be something for everyone. Check out our premium rated Hungarian goose down pillow!
9. Think about drink and eat light at night
Try to reduce your intake of water or any other drinks around 1-2 hours before bed and also use the bathroom right before going to sleep so its less likely you’ll have to wake during the night. Also avoid eating late in the evening as this can affect your hormones and sleep quality.
10. Get an alarm clock and stay away from the snooze
Instead of using your smartphone as an alarm, have a clock by your bedside so that you don't have to use your phone right before going to sleep. Although hitting the snooze button a hundred times can be appealing some days, try to keep it to a minimum to avoid disrupting your sleep.
You can view all the Diamond Bedding products mentioned above here on our website and if you would like to discuss your requirements just call or email us to decide what would be best for you.
]]>Skin Benefits
What’s the key to youthful, glowing, wrinkle-free skin? Hydration. And that’s exactly what silk provides - instead of sucking up moisture like cotton or other fabrics do, silk helps you retain moisture and any products you use in your night-time skin care routine, so that they can have their fully desired effect. The result is hydrated, plump skin cells over time that show fewer wrinkles and dewy skin since there is fewer dehydrated skin cells present. Unfortunately this doesn't mean you can cut out the water intake and sleep on a silk pillowcase or wear a silk eye mask instead (if only!) but together they can help you achieve a more flawless and healthier looking complexion.
Hair Benefits
When it comes to hair, how many of us have become tired of frizziness, split ends or general limpness? And to remedy it we go out and buy hoards of oils, serums, shampoos & conditioners, new hairbrushes, hair sprays, anything we think will improve the condition of our hair. But no amount of hair products will be able to ‘fix’ your hair if you’re then going on to sleep on harsh fabrics which reverse the effects of all the products you use as well as cause friction. That’s the difference with silk, the unique texture of our silk pillowcases reduces friction as it’s so smooth and same as with skin, retains moisture in your hair rather than drying it out, leaving you with healthy, shiny locks worthy of hair envy.
Health benefits
Skin conditions
Silk bedding has a unique ability to work in sync with our bodies to help us get the best sleep possible. We covered above how silk fibres help us retain moisture, and in terms of our health, for sufferers of skin conditions such as eczema, the amino acids naturally present in silk reabsorb moisture as you sleep so you can wake up in the morning with rejuvenated skin.
Allergies
If you suffer from allergies related to dust like asthma for example, silk bedding is the perfect environment to keep these at bay. Silk’s naturally hypoallergenic properties are something dust mites hate so you can sleep easy in silk knowing there’s a reduction in the amount of dust mites present, meaning its less likely your allergies will flare up during the night.
Temperature regulation
Unlike other types of bedding, silk also basically has an inbuilt temperature regulator. It is able to keep you warm when its cold and cool when its warm so its perfect for all seasons and temperatures, no more waking up and flipping your pillow or duvet over to the cool side during those warm summer nights!
In combination, all of these benefits can help you get a bit more shut eye each night and give you a better quality sleep all year round, as well as improving the way your skin and hair looks and how you feel. And it’s a good thing too as the way you function when you’re awake depends on how well you sleep.

Diamond Bedding’s silk bedding and accessories range consists of pillowcases, sheets, covers or complete sets and eye masks - everything you could need to quite literally cover every inch of yourself in silk! But you may not know how to differentiate between different silks to make sure you’re investing in the best quality or know about the many benefits that silk holds, so we’ve put together this two-part guide to explain all.
The details to look for
First off, there are various types of silk depending on the weight, measured in momme - the greater the weight, the higher the momme and therefore you receive a better quality silk. Most products come in the 10-15 momme range but you really get what you pay for as silks with a lesser weight may be cheaper but they won’t last as long and you’ll have to replace them more often.
Next up you’ll want to make sure it’s made up of pure 100% silk i.e. not made up of other fabrics and you’ll also want to opt for Mulberry silk over any other type as it is one of the finest available in the world and more refined than other types of silk. It is also completely odourless and hypoallergenic as well as extremely durable but we will go into more detail about that in part two of this guide.
The final thing to look for is a charmeuse weave which stands out due to the fact that amongst other reasons, it makes for a a perfect insulator and has a smoother surface which means less friction. Also look for a thread count higher than 400 as it means the silk will be more tightly woven and therefore more durable and longer lasting.

]]>It's not just the quantity of down filling that’s important in a goose down pillow, but more so the quality of the down which depends on the fill power. Fill power determines the loft and most importantly - the longevity of your goose down pillow. Nobody wants to invest in a down pillow which isn't destined to last long but unfortunately that can be the case with many other brand pillows. With Diamond Bedding you can sleep peacefully in the knowledge that your pillows are manufactured with an incredible 800 fill power, just ask any other retailer if they can top that!
Construction
Ever felt that annoying ‘poke’ from your pillow almost as if you can feel the filling trying to escape? Ouch. Well worry no more, at Diamond Bedding we manufacture all of our pillows with a unique down-proof fabric combined with a luxurious Egyptian cotton, 400 thread count cover which is tightly constructed to ensure no down can escape. To guarantee comfort, we recommend that you choose a pillow with a thread count of at least 300, but that’s something which can rarely be found with other retailers.
Another important feature to look for in the goose down pillow is the stitching which plays an important role not only in the quality of the finish but also in the overall look of the pillow. At Diamond Bedding all of our pillows are double needle stitched, which means that there is less chance of the seams breaking and it also provides that neat and tidy finish you want for your pillow.
How the down is sourced
When shopping for your goose down pillow only reputable manufacturers should be considered, as one of the worries is that pillows can be filled with feather and down waste which has a huge impact in the quality and feel of the pillow. At Diamond Bedding, we can guarantee that our down is sourced from only the finest, larger mature geese and the quality is far superior to any other retailer.
We hope you found this guide to our goose down pillows helpful but as always if you would like more information or want to discuss your requirements, please get in touch. Call us on 0203 8873555 or email us on sales@diamondbedding.co.uk
]]>Each duvet comes with its own tog rating which refers to the warmth and thickness of the duvet ranging from 4.5 tog to 13.5 tog.
Our beginning 4.5 tog rated duvets are the most lightweight and would be ideal for those summer nights when insulation is the least of our worries.
The 10.5 tog duvets would be ideal as an all year round duvet, as these would be perfect to keep you warm throughout the winter, whilst keeping you cool in the summer.
And if you're always feeling the chill, the ultimate 13.5 tog duvets, known for their thickness and warmth would be great to keep you snug throughout even the coldest of winter nights.
Fillings
Whilst duvets can range from natural fillings to synthetic fillings, at Diamond Bedding we only stock the finest natural duvets. Ranging from our luxurious goose down duvets to silk duvets, we have something for everyone.
The advantages our range of goose duvets offer over regular synthetic duvets is the fact that they are so lightweight and provide much more effective insulation, which is exactly what you want from a duvet. Whilst a 13.5 tog synthetic version might keep you warm, the weight would become uncomfortable whereas our luxurious alternatives provide a higher level of warmth and comfort without all that extra weight.
Choose from our most luxurious Hungarian goose down duvet sourced directly from Hungary, our special combination of goose down and feather or our ultimate goose down duvet. Whichever one you go for we guarantee you'll get the best quality at an unbeatable price.
If you’re still unsure about which duvet would be best for you, our experts are always on hand to help you. Call us on 0203 887 3555 or drop us an email.
