Do Expensive Goose Down Pillows Improve The Quality Of Your Sleep?
When you’re deciding whether it’s worth investing in an expensive goose down pillow, you’ll often question how much of a difference it’s going to make to the comfort and quality of your sleep. Since many of us struggle with finding the right pillow, we’re willing to research and pay top prices for the perfect pillow. After all, we do spend a third of our lives in bed, right?
What most of us don’t realise is that there are plenty of different types of pillows recommended specifically for our sleeping positions. Did you know that there are around six different sleeping positions? The sleep experts at Diamond Bedding can recommend a different pillow for each sleeping position! Once we know your ideal sleeping position, we can determine the sort of firmness in a pillow which would be suitable for you, the sort of thickness in a pillow and the sort of filling materials such as a foam pillow, a goose down pillow or a silk pillow. For example, if you are a side sleeper then we may recommend the medium firmness range of our Hungarian goose down pillow.
Ideally, back sleepers would need a pillow which would support the natural curvature of their spine whilst still providing support for their shoulders, neck and under their heads. Due to this, the pillow would need to be thinner than pillows for other positions to keep everything aligned.
On the other hand, side sleepers would need a pillow which would support their head and neck whilst keeping their spine aligned. This requires a pillow with a certain level of thickness so we would recommend a pillow such as our Ultimate goose down pillow. They are thick and provide the perfect level of softness on the outer core whilst still providing the correct amount of firmness in the centre to provide adequate support to keep your spine aligned. We would also suggest bending your knees and keeping a cheaper pillow such as our cool silk pillow between your knees as this would aid in keeping your back aligned whilst allowing your back to rest thus aiding to heal back pain.
We have some bad news for stomach sleepers! This is the most uncomfortable position for our bodies as it places the most stress on our neck and back. If you have back problems or spine issues, you should speak to your doctor if you sleep on your stomach as it can make certain condition worse. Ideally, for this position we would recommend a flat pillow to keep your neck and head aligned and we would also suggest placing an old, flat pillow under your stomach to help keep your lower back aligned.
To conclude, there can be many factors which go into deciding which pillow would be suitable for you!
